then we had dinner and talked about the movies we'd recently seen....
- bladerunner (director's cut)--an old favorite directed by Ridley
Scott. I used to love this movie, but now I find it boring. How disappointing!
- love & basketball--slow-paced black family film turns into
a moving love story
- starstruck--annoying screenplay
writer used by fallen star, then gets his revenge
- trust--a strong-willed pregnant teen
falls in love with an older, disheveled guy who can't hold a job who
carries a hand-grenade around, "just in case."
- magnolia--a depressing film about
people's depressing lives. and just when you though you'd start helplessly
crying, it rains frogs.
- an ideal husband --scandals and love in the world of 19th-century english
political aristocracy
- the watcher --a music video that goes on for far too long
- office killer --haven't we all wanted to kill our coworkers and have their
dead bodies entertain us with their rotting flesh?
- mumford--light, life-affirming
- pillow book --calligraphy fetish, artsy filmography, unmoved by its
puported eroticism
