Drag Racing

BADRC (Bay Area Drag Racing Club), the former NCDA, holds races for 1/10th scale electric cars and 1/8th or 1/10th scale gas (although any kind of car can be raced, just not for any regional or national points, additional restrictions may apply for national events).

Racing is held on a 1/10th scale NHRA 1/4 mile track (132') complete with a fully functional christmas tree and timing system. Currently races are held in Sunnyvale CA on Caspian Ct. (off Borregas between Caribbean Dr. (aka Lawrence Expy) and Gava (aka Fair Oaks Ave)).

I currently race a 1/10th scale electric Top Fuel Funny Car which uses 16 cells (600mha or 1000mha sub-C nicad) and an Astro Flight Top Fuel II (1373 Watts) drag motor. My best run to date is: 1.898 second ET (Elapsed Time) at 67.16 MPH.

I also race a 1/10th scale electric Alcohol Rail which uses 10 cells (1000mha sub-C nicad) and a Astro Flight Top Fuel I (941 Watts) drag motor. My best run to date is: 2.098 second ET at 61.5 MPH.

ET's are in the 1.8 to 3 second range (from top fuel to stock) and real MPH through the speed trap (10' before the end) are in the range of the high 70's down to 30's.
